A recent report carried out by Gartner* reveals interesting trends in the purchasing habits of key decision makers across Europe. Perhaps most surprising is the discovery that many organisations still do not know their copy or print volumes (approximately 70% of organisations with printers and 45% of organisations with copiers).
The research did, however, show that some organisations are starting to use Cost-Per-Page (CPP) figures as a basis for purchasing both printers and copiers. The number of organisations that claim to purchase printers using a CPP contract has increased from 9% in 1999 to 30% in 2003. While this is a significant increase for printers, for copiers the figure is much higher, with some 80% of organisations claiming that they bought their copiers on a cost-per-page basis. 63% of UK businesses surveyed also said they would prefer a single source for all copiers, printers and consumables, showing that they clearly see the benefits of a single supplier to help them actively achieve low cost per copy.
"It is encouraging that this figure has tripled over three years, but there still remains potential for greater improvement. Rex-Rotary is looking to help customers significantly reduce costs, by focusing on bringing down their cost per page" explains Product Marketing Manager.
Rex-Rotary prides itself on being a 'one stop shop' for customers with print, copy, scan or fax requirements, providing the ultimate in cost-saving benefits from a single-supplier approach.
When deciding which vendor to select for their printer and copier requirements, organisations rates "service and support" and "reliability and durability of the product" as the top two reasons for their selection. This indicates that vendors that have a strong support infrastructure are best placed to meet the customers' requirements.
"Rex-Rotary has a strong product line-up and, more importantly, a very strong service and support infrastructure across Europe, " explains Product Marketing Manager. "By leveraging these two factors, we can offer organisations of any size a solution to suit their needs."
Thanks to the innovative, Total Document Solutions-based approach adopted by industry leaders like Rex-Rotary, the future looks bright for companies looking to exercise maximum control over their spending, whilst also gaining optimum benefit from the latest generation of digital MFP devices.
